Maoist Commander Madvi Hidma, Behind 26 Armed Attacks, Killed in Maredumili Encounter (X @7ANURAGSHARMA)
Visakhapatnam: One of the most wanted Maoist commanders of India, Madvi Hidma, and the Central Committee leader of the CPI (Maoist), Madvi Hidma, was killed on Tuesday. Reportedly, he was killed while there were exchange of fire with police in the forests of Maredumilli on Tuesday.
As per the reports, his wife and several other close associates were among the six Maoists gunned down during the encounter.
As per police, exchange of fire took place between police and the maoist at around 6 am and 7 am. A fierce fight took place, when elite anti-Naxal units, and local district police, launched the operation in the dense forest region. It is to be noted here that Hidma and his group were reportedly trying to escape towards the Andhra–Chhattisgarh border when they were intercepted.
“For the past few weeks, Andhra Pradesh SIB/intelligence inputs have specifically indicated the movement of Maoists near the AP-Chhattisgarh-Odisha border and, based on those inputs, we operated and got this success,” a top officer said.
''When Mallojula Venugopal Rao alias Sonu surrendered recently, a top security official had said the focus was now on Hidma. “He is the party’s most deadly commander. The search will be on for him now,” the official had said.
“We have been able to confirm that six Maoists have been neutralised. The operation is ongoing. We will get more details once our parties return,” Amit Bardar, Superintendent of Police, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Hidma was eliminated even before the November 30, 2025, deadline set by the forces for his capture, as per the sources.
